South Africa had 4 horses in the Top 100 of the Longines World Best Racehorse rankings in 2019 – and a total of 21 on the 250 best racehorse list, according to tabnews.co.za

The rankings, for horses (three-years-old and upwards) who raced during 2018, are topped, jointly, by Great Britain’s Cracksman and the infamous Australian, Winx, both on ratings of 130.

The rankings were released last week and cover performances to the end of 2018.

The South African contingent is lead by the Dean Kannemeyer-trained Last Winter – the 2018 Sun Met runner-up – in 59th position with a rating of 119.

The other South African horses in the top 100 include:

  • Coral Fever (trained by Robbie Sage),
  • Do It Again (Justin Snaith) and
  • Marinaresco (Candice Base-Robinson); are all in 78th place on ratings of 118.

Other South African horses in the top 250 include One World and 2019 Sun Met runners Head Honcho, Undercover Agent, Oh Susanna, and Eyes Wide Open.
